WORK EXPERIENCE

·        Instructor, Harvard University's Professional Development Program. Summer Graduate Course involved developing and teaching advanced Computer Aided Design and Landscape Simulation strategies to practicing landscape architects & engineers. 2001 and Co/taught with Professor Steve Ervin, 1995 and 1996.

·        President of Digital Design & Imaging Service©—a consulting firm that produces visual simulations of proposed landscape, architectural and civil engineering projects. Recent commissions include various approved and built cell tower design and mitigation projects shown at http://www.cell-sim.com/samples/index.htm ,   HNTB’s winning multimedia animation depicting the construction phasing of the 80 million dollar U.S. I-95/Rt.1 interchange in Alexandria VA, various cellular tower location simulations for AT&T Bell Atlantic Mobile/Verizon Wireless,  the proposed JMT design for the Wilson Bridge replacement in Washington , the new town project in Rockville MD,, "Smart Growth’ scenarios for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, a High School Feasibility Study for Greiner in Bethesda MD, various train route alternatives near Brussels, damming sequences for Dijle River in Belgium, a highway bridge over MD Rt. 2/4, a Senior Housing facility in N. Virginia and forensic animations for a train and truck accidents. ·        Guest Professor, Fachhochschule Anhalt--Germany. Taught Computer Aided Design & Autocad, and 3d computer visualization courses to practicing landscape architects and students. 9 weeks, Fall 1997.

·        Adjunct Professor, American University Computer Science Information Systems Dept (Creativity & Computers Course) and at the Maryland Institute College of Art (3d Studio course)1/97 to 1/99.

·        Assistant Professor, Morgan State University,. Position emphasized teaching Introductory Design, Advanced Autocad, Construction Grading and Detailing, Plant Identification & Advanced Graphics. Contributed to MSU's 2 successful national accreditations.8/88 to 5/97.

·        CAD Manager/Landscape Architect, Urban Engineering Associates, Annandale Va. Managed a computer aided design system for a civil engineering/land development firm. Notable projects included the coordination of CAD drawings for the Reston Town Center design. Drawings featured in Softdesk brochures. 12/87 to 8/88.

·        Landscape Architect/Technician, Dept. of Parks and Recreation, City of Ann Arbor, MI. Set up a CAD and primitive GIS system for designing and mapping proposed improvements and capital funding for the city's extensive park system. Resulting CAD drawings published in Landcadd brochure. Part time through graduate school. 9/86 to 11/87.

·        Assistant Professor, School of Urban Planning and Landscape Architecture, Michigan State University. Taught Graphics and various Design Studios in a 4 yr. BLA program. 9/83 to 5/86.

·        Overseas Study Program Leader, Michigan State University's Landscape Architecture Dept. Initiated and organized two 10-week academic study/travel programs in Europe. 1986,1988

·        Draftsperson, James Urban Associates. Summer intern position involved drafting and limited residential design. Notable project included the new National Geographic Society Headquarters in Washington DC. Summer 1983.

·        Tree Surgeon, owner of a tree care business that handled all aspects of pruning major shade trees. Practiced part-time 5 years in MD, NY and Belgium. Passed the Maryland State Certified Tree Experts Exam 1979.

·        Grant Writer, extensive experience in locating, writing and winning grants for research, software, design competitions and conferences. Have received 3 release time awards and over $95,000 worth of software donations for Morgan State University.

·        Ph.D. (Pre-Candidate) in Landscape Architecture, School of Natural Resources, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. Dissertation research focus: Improving Depth and Distance Perception in 3d computer simulations. Chairpersons: William. J. Johnson. Committee members Rudolf Arnheim, Robert Grese, Dianne Kirkpatrick. 9/87 to 5/91 (withdrawn).

·        Masters of Landscape Architecture, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. Minor: Woody Plant materials. 3-year degree completed 8/82. Worked simultaneously as research assistant in the Dept. of Architecture's Computer Graphics Lab--Don Greenburg, Director. 11/79 to 8/82.

·        Bachelor of Arts, Ithaca College, Ithaca, NY. Interdisciplinary Studies w/ Minors in Applied Writing, Fine Art and Art History. Studied architectural history 1 semester at the IC Center in London England. Graduated 5/78
